A. Lewis Putnam, of Danvers, Massachusetts, entered the State Normal School in Bridgewater with the 46th class in September 1855 and graduated in 1856. Lewis married Addie O. Cook (a member of the 49th class of the Bridgewater Normal School) in December 1860.
