Meg Burch, a resident of Greenfield, MA, grew up in New York City and moved to Western Massachusetts thirty years ago. She has a masters in epidemiology and worked as an epidemiologist for ten years before returning to school and becoming a registered nurse. Since then she has worked as a school nurse and nurse administrator. In this interview, Burch discusses her role in her school district’s decision to close schools at the start of the pandemic, what it was like to be an epidemiologist during a pandemic, her experience of losing her mother during the pandemic, and how she managed to maintain connections and community, among other topics.
