Born in Lancaster, longtime resident Bill Farnsworth initiated the Nashua River Study Committee in 1962 and, in 1963 selectman's annual town report. Regionally, he is credited with cofounding the Nashua River Watershed Association with Marion Stoddart of Groton and several area people in 1969. In later years, he continued as a member and board director.
