Aguirre was responsible for laying the foundation for the development of the Mexico Olympic Committee, the Central American Games, and the Pan American Games. Aguirre worked as National Director of Physical Education of the YMCA and the National University of Mexico. He was the technical director and organizer of the Central American and Caribbean Games held in Mexico City in 1926. The International Olympic Committee made him director of the IX Olympiad, held in Holland in 1928. He was also head coach of the Mexican teams in these games. He was elected President of the Mexican Olympic Committee for the games held in Helsinki, Finland in 1952. In 1972, Springfield College presented him with the Distinguished Alumnus Award. He passed away on June 12, 1984.
