Herbert Jervis received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Springfield College, his master’s and doctoral degrees from Florida State University, and a juris doctorate from St. John’s University. He is a molecular biologist, patent attorney, and the retired vice president and chief intellectual property counsel for Pioneer Hi-Bred International, Inc., DuPont’s largest agricultural business. In this position, he was in charge of corporate patents and trademarks. Jervis is a member of the Springfield College Board of Trustees. Jekyll Island sits just off the coast of Georgia and is one of only four Georgia barrier islands that feature a paved causeway to access the island by car. The island measures about seven miles long and one and a half miles wide.
