John Chalmer Cox (1935 - May 18, 2013) taught psychology at Springfield College for roughly thirty years. He also earned his bachelor’s degree ('61), master’s degree ('63), and certificate of advanced studies in psychology ('63) from Springfield College. While a student, he was elected freshman class president. After graduating, Cox was a communication specialist for the U.S. Navy during the Korean War, and he then took on the role of director of admissions, guidance, and alumni affairs at Monson Academy in Massachusetts. Before joining Springfield College as a faculty member in 1965, he served as the director of the counseling center. Cox was appointed the Distinguished Professor of Humanics for the 1992-1993 academic year.
