Led by Captain "Chick" Kistner, the Springfield College basketball team won 14 games and lost only 6. The highlight of the season was the narrow 57-55 loss to Long Island University's (L.I.U.) nationally known quintette in the Maroons' Golden Ball Game. This was also the last season for Coach Ed Hickox, who ended his 16 seasons as head coach with an incredible .711 win percentage (209 wins, 85 losses).
