Sanne Kure-Jensen oral history with Leslie Cox and Robert S. Cox
Description:
Conversation with Sanne Kure-Jensen, organic farmer from Rhode Island and participant in organic land care program. Has worked as a organic farmer, gardener, and landscape designer; memories of going to Organic Land Care Program in Connecticut, later getting invited to be a reviewer (00:05:25); involvements in local arboretum, local land trusts, and other activities, working on boards and ensuring organic approaches (00:08:19); lifestyle: does not eat a lot of processed food, but cooks together with husband; grow their own food, vegetables, and purchases or barters with fellow organic farmers (00:10:25); NOFA has made Kure-Jensen even more "hard core organic" (00:14:00); looking to future of organic movement: Rhode Island there is a lot of enthusiasm for organic with 50 farmers' markets, which may be too many for a small state (00:16:45); NOFA needs to stay on top of policy to remain relevant (00:18:46); for next generation, needs to emphasize education on care of land (00:21:49).
