Paint-decorated poplar domed-top box with patriotic decoration painted in golden yellow and black. On the top is centered an eagle with on an olive branch holding a ribbon in its beak that reads "We are one" written in a decorative oval and with corner fans. The front has spikey trees upon which the initials "LB" are formed with brass tacks, below the inscribed legend "Chester Vermont/December 19, 1810", each small side has a conforming spikey tree, and the back has short, splashy diagonal strokes. There is a brass bail handle on the top, with an iron hinged lock attached to the front. The inside is unpainted, and the remaining pieces of black ribbon hinges on top (probably a document box due to the sturdy lock and brass handle).
