[Heliographs in Chambers, brother & co's complete catalogue and price-list of book and newspaper folding-machines, and other printers' and binders' machinery]
Description:
"8 heliographs (collotypes) of the building, folding machines, 2 plates of medals, 1 a diploma. These prints use John Carbutt's own process name in the argument with the Artotype Co. J. Carbutt, Philadelphia, produced these prints for this catalogue of newspaper and binders machines, many of which duplicate the 1874 catalogue...This example is the only one known to have been done by Carbutt in the heliograph process, and is therefore extremely rare and important in American photomechanical history. The prints are also interesting to campare to the 1874 Chambers catalogue (1874:2)."--Hanson Collection catalog, p. 60
