Dress, black silk, machine-sewn, lace and beadwork. Low-cut square bodice, gathered under bust, has sheer black figured netting insert that forms a high neck, edge at neckline with elaborate black beadwork and netting ruffle. Lower portion of netting insert is covered in black silk embroidery and beadwork. An elaborately-woven beaded fringe hangs from the square neckline of silk bodice. Sleeves are layered: short sleeves of black silk edged in beadwork; tea-length sleeves of black netting edged with ruffle and beadwork underneath. (All beads are black and shiny--jet? onyx?) Skirt is narrow, long, and flared, made of black-on-black striped silk. Hemming and finishing is done by hand. Back of dress has hook-and-eye closures. Some stitchwork on inside of dress is loose.
