'Plimouth Plantation was founded in 1947. It was the idea of Henry 'Harry' Hornblower II. In 1948, the first Pilgrim house was built on the Plymouth waterfront. A fort/meetinghouse was added in 1953 to the Pilgrim Memorial State Park. Another house was added in 1955. It was always Harry's dream to build a full scale Pilgrim village, but needed land to do that. Upon her death, Harry's grandmother donated her family's summer estate on the Eel River to build the museum. Since 1959, Plimouth Plantation has been located in Chiltonville alongside the Eel River. This picture is of the 17th-Century English Village as it looked circa 2016. Location: Plimoth Plantation.'
