'Garfield was the brother of my great-great-grandfather Edward Alton Garfield. He was Mayor of Brockton in 1898 as well as alderman for many years. Born in 1860 in West Dennis, Massachusetts. Died 1920. His brothers and he ran Garfield Brothers Market on Main Street during the late nineteenth century, early twentieth century. Garfield Street is named for them.
