Herman enjoyed his trip home and talks about the football teams at camp. He talks about the movement of people and troops from the camp but doesn't think he will be leaving. He saw a movie and a vaudeville show at the Y.M.C.A. that night with Dick Sloughton, and that morning they had "griddle cakes and brown sugar syrup" for breakfast. He hopes that Pa and George were able to vote, and he thinks that the cough medicine and skunk's oil will help him get over the remainder of his cold.
