Because they were against what they believed were our attitudes and policies toward the larger questions: to national defense, support of President Roosevelt, the fight against Hitler. To say we were defeated merely because of red-baiting and because the membership feared the leadership was Communist dominated, I believe, is incorrect in the sense that it is an inadequate and most partial answer."
