The summary of the FOR questionnaire is food for thought. "It seems to me that the United States today stands convicted of a 'failure of nerve.' The people, in the persons of the 'leaders,' no longer believe in self-government and freedom. They still use the old words, but the meanings have changed. Our erstwhile liberals have been won over to Hobbes' Leviathan, while liberals in religion are moving toward the 'Thirteenth Greatest of Centuries'."
