Harvard classmate excoriates Foote and Butcher for their position on the war. "Both of you cry imperialism and heathenism, and you are certainly right: but why be so outraged and dishonored about it? The logic of the situation is that American imperialism and British imperialism is preferable from any viewpoint than Japanese or Nazi aggression... Of course as Quaker and pacifist respectively, it is hard for you to see through the immediate situation into the basic long-term setup..."
