Report on FOR National Council Meetings, which were "hot" over the issue of withdrawal from the NSBRPO and with a "surprising degree of opposition to CPS, and A.J.'s private predicition is that, after a little more education, the FOR will be out within a few months." Lengthy discussion of positions of Passmore Elkinton. Evan Thomas, John Swomley, Arthur Swift, A.J. Muste, et al. Increasing pressure by American Legion on CPS. Assessment of personalities involved: Evan Thomas, Bob Brooks. Situation regarding parole and the "Danbury boys." Discussion with Roger Baldwin about going to prison as a pacifist: he "felt men in prison in the last war had 'accomplished nothing... and when I look at what has happened to the men in prison then in the years following I get awfully discouraged.'... He said he supposed it would make me feel good to go to jail. but he couldn't see much other point."
