Medium small book with a fairly plain black marbled soft cover, with a white square for a name in the center of the cover. The name on the cover is partially worn away, but still reads " R. Fessenden, Pleasant St., Mass." The first half of the book consists of a series of articles printed in The Christian Science Monitor in the summer of 1930, "briefly describing places of interest to the visitors at the Massachusetts Bay Tercentenary celebration. Each article is about a different historic site in New England, and contains a drawing and brief history of the site. The Jason Russell House is included as the only Arlington site in the series. The second half of the book consists of a variety of newspaper clippings and phamphlets. There are several articles about historic buildings in Massachusetts, including a second article about the Jason Russell House, as well as articles about Cooper's Tavern, the Deacon Adams House, the Russell Store, the George Clark stables, and the Thompson Estate, all located in Arlington. There is also an article about the history of Turkey Hill. There are several documents related to the 100th aniversary of the Robbins Library. A series of phamphlets entitled "Your Town" is included, with brief descriptions of notable events or people in early Arlington history. There are a number of articles about the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. There are several documents about notable Arlington residents, including articles about Cyrus Dallin, various church ministers, and long time librarians. There are other short various articles about Arlington history, as well as a 1940 article about present day Arlington. There are also a large number of articles about Shakers. Binding is falling apart somewhat, but pages are still in good condition. Many documents are undated, but the dated ones are from 1929 to 1956. The second half of the book is not particularly organized.
