Blue rectangular panel of fabric taking up the upper left quadrant of the flag. Thirty-eight white stars printed onto blue fabric rectangle in upper left quadrant. Thirty-eight stars are printed in five rows with the pattern of 8-7-8-7-8; each row evenly spaced. Printed on left-hand border is "American Ensign 3FT" as well as "Patented April _____". Lower on the same border near bottom is a name or other short word in cursive that appears to start with "G" but is illegible. Stars and stripes are printed. Small fabric tag stitched to top right that says "F21-87". White stitching runs across border between blue fabric and stripes as well as horizontally through center of flag and along right-hand border.
