<mods:abstract>A World War I poster that says “YMCA Stations” at the top. The image shows a canal with two small boats in the foreground and buildings in the backdrop. One says Coiffeur (trans: hairdresser) and another has illegible writing. There is a bridge broken halfway across the canal, likely depicting the famous West Bridge destroyed by the French to prevent the German army from crossing.</mods:abstract>
<mods:note>The Battle of Château-Thierry, fought on July 18, 1918, was one of the first actions of the American Expeditionary Force (AEF) under General John J. Pershing. Prompted by the July 15 German offensive, the American and French forces launched a counter-assault on a 25 mile wide front; the American influence was heaviest in the regions around Chateau-Thierry. The West Bridge was where the French and American troops made their stand after holding the northern banks of the Marne. The attack took the German army by surprise and turned the tide of the war.</mods:note>
<mods:note>The bottom and top edges are worn; There is water damage in the bottom left corner; There is a visible crease down a section of the center; There are two small holes (top right, bottom right).</mods:note>
