A play written by William Chauncy Langdon II about Robert Ross McBurney with music by Fredrick S. Hyde. In the play, which was written and takes place in 1922, a writer has come to research Robert R. McBurney who passed away in 1898. The setting for the play is a room like one in the 23rd Street YMCA in New York City however that building has been torn down. The writer is doing research in the room when the ghost of McBurney appears to him. The bulk of the play is a series of interactions between McBurney's ghost and various people (a thief, YMCA Secretaries) who enter the room. During the play the reader/viewer is given a background of McBurney's sizable contributions to the YMCA as well as his beliefs.

Fredrick Hyde taught at Springfield College for 29 years. In addition to two operas and incidental music for campus productions, he wrote the music and words to many of the college's best known songs, including "A Song for Springfield."
