On the history of Geel as an exceptional outlier in the treatment of people with mental illness. Describing the the workings of the Central Hospital and the town's unique treatment methods including the use of "foster families" and "family nursing." Promoting Geel as a model that has been followed by a group in New Haven, Missouri and studied by researchers at Columbia University.
