A brass button with shank. Front of button has a raised gothic letter "I" and a plain raised rim. Underside reads "ISAAC S. CAMPBELL & CO / LONDON / 71 [illeg]ERYMST" Similar buttons with the same manufacturer's information on the back are identified online as Civil War buttons. Accompanying card reads, "Gift of: Mrs. T. F. Murray / 548 Centre St.,/ Newton 10-24-58" "3 Buttons Revolutionary from coat of Gen Gra[..] given to Charles Hardy who was his guard at the close of the War." Accompanying visiting card engraved "Mrs. E. S. Hardy." On back is written in pencil, "Button from the coat of Genl Green given to Charles A Hardy who was guard [2 words illegible] close of the War." On front is written in pencil "Lake St. is where is "75 died 54 ys ago" 1904 Born about 1825-30 Her Father in law wld be contemporary with the Revolution."
