'Wedding photo--great-grandparents. Peter was born in Ireland in 1843, immigrated to the United States, and settled in Amesbury, Massachusetts as a farmer. He enlisted in the Grand Army of the Republic (G.A.R.) in the 10th Regiment, New Hampshire on August 19, 1863. He was paid twenty-five dollars as he volunteered to take the place of a draftee. He fought in the Civil War and was discharged from a field hospital on June 19, 1865. Bridget had no information on birth date or location. She married Peter in October of 1865. They had eight children, six survived childhood. Bridget died December 14, 1914 and Peter died in 1916 and is buried in Amesbury. I grew up in Lawrence, Massachusetts (family moved to Lawrence to work in the mills) and my family moved to Amesbury in 1978.
