'My uncle, Alfred Duca, opened this restaurant in approximately 1946 after he retired from World War II. It first was a restaurant and then only a window ice cream bar. As a high school student, I worked for my uncle in Duca's 5 & 10 cent store and lived in the back bedrooms for the summer. Mr. Duca built housing on site for workers and family.'
