'This gazebo has been designated as a historic site. School children come each year in the late spring. It is called the Witch House because [legend has it that] during the Salem Witch Trials, a woman and two children escaped persecution by hiding in the cave underneath. It was built by Frederic Tudor, 'The Ice King' around 1873. There used to be medallions for eave, one for each direction. The gazebo is also known as The Rock Temple or Neptune's Temple.'
