'My ancestors lived in Hingham during the 1850 census. They came from Ireland sometime during the famine in Ireland. Eventually the all lived in Boston. My third great grandparents, Patrick and Rosanna (Mannion) Miley are living in Hingham, MA according to the 1850 Federal Census. Their name is spelled 'Mealy' on the census. Four of their five children are living with them: Michael (19), Margaret (17), Martin (16), Patrick (14), my second great grandfather, and Cathrine (11). Patrick the father, Michael and Martin are all listed as laborers. Patrick does not own real estate. Another son, Thomas (18) is living with the Lincoln family in Hingham with an occupation of laborer. Solomon Lincoln, head of the household has an occupation of sawyer and owns real estate worth $1,000. I have traced each of Rosanna and Patrick's children except Martin to their deaths. Rosanna died in 1871. I have not been able to find Patrick's death. He is not listed in any other census, beginning with the 1855 Massachusetts Census. By then, Rosanna is living in Gardner, MA with her son, Patrick. Her daughter, Cathrine, is living with a family as a domestic in Gardiner.
