Christmas 1991, Milton MA--3 generations of strong women
Description:
'My grandmother Mary and great aunt had limited educational opportunities growing up during the Great Depression. Their mother would bring text books home from her job as a bookbinder at Houghton Mifflin. These books had failed inspection from consumer sale. Madeline and my grandmother continued to seld educate in this way. My mother went to a community college but due to family obligations never graduated. I was determined to get a college education and not only graduated from a community college in 2012 but got my BA in history from UMass Boston in May 2014. I am the first college graduate in my family. Photo taken by my father Ron Russo. Pictured, from left to right: my great-aunt Madeline Gibbons, myself Donna Russo, my mother Mary Schofield Russo, and my grandmother Mary Schofield. Location: Winthrop, Milton.'
