Mom and Dad's wedding picture 1921 day after her arrival from Germany
Description:
'How they met: Both families knew each other. Her father was a professional photographer and his family photo was taken by him. My father came to New Bedford in 1913 and continued to correspond with her and both forwarding photos of each other. He sent for her in 1921. Her ship was due to arrive in New York. While he was on the train reading the list of ship arrivals he noticed her ship had been changed to arrive in Boston. He hopped off the train at next stop. Took another train to Boston. When he arrived, ship was already in. Hardly anyone around and he was wondering how they would find each other since she didn't know a word of English. He decided to go down to lower platform where ship was. As he descended down stairway, he spotted her coming up with her suitcase. Pictured: Clara F. Lenk and Arthur Lenk. Location: North End.'
