This photo is important to us because it is one of the few pictures we have of Mayor Stanley's parents. They are first generation American born. Both of his father's parents (Mayor Bill Stanley's great-grandparents) immigrated from England. Mayor Bill Stanley's maternal family is Irish. This photo was taken one year before Bill was born. Pictured: Mary Swanton Stanley (on left, approximately in her 20s) and Harold Stanley (on right, approximately in his 20s). Location: south side of Waltham on Lowell Street.'
