Description:
'This is a photo taken in Boston of my great grandfather, Charles T. Derry. With his two brothers, they owned three sailing ships. During the Civil War, they transported 15 inch rodman cannons from South Boston Iron Company to forts in Portland, Maine to New York (and all the ports in between). He played WHISK (the card game) going back and forth from Boston to New York. He wrote a book named 'The Facts and Incidents in the Life of Captain Charles T. Derry' published in 1898.'
