2011 Canton Cup, Massachusetts State Cyclocross Championships
Description:
'This was only my second season of cyclocross racing, though I had done well for several years as a road racer. The Canton Cup course ran through fields and some paths on the MA State Hospital campus and was not terribly technical. It favored the strength and power associated with road racers as opposed to the bike handling finesse most cyclocross specialists develop. I was very surprised to pull away from Alec Petro and Paul Curley to win the race in the final laps. I raced the men's masters 45+ (age) race and the 35+ race. The Canton Cup served as the Massachusetts State Cyclocross Championships. I won the 45+ race and placed 10th in the subsequent 35+ race.' North American Velo, with Race Director James Scott, was responsible for organizing the 10th Annual Canton Cup Cyclocross Race. North American Velo and USA Cycling was responsible for creating the trophy.'
