Bicycle Repair Collective "Seize the Wrench" T-shirt
Description:
'This jersey reflects the leftist and sexual-orientation inclusive approach of Bicycle Repair Collective members after the founders had been pushed out by newer members. The four interlocked bicycle wheels, doubling as male and female symbols, symbolize male-male, male-female and female-female relationships. The raised fist and the 'seize the wrench' slogan carry iconic leftist messages. I had known co-founder Sheldon Brown since before the founding of the BRC, and when I lived in Cambridge, up through 1979, I frequently visited the shop when work on bicycles required tools I did not own. I purchased this shirt because I expected that it would be of historical interest. I still go to the shop occasionally, mostly to scavenge parts from the used-parts stash.'
