Man's handsewn waistcoat of cream colored silk faille, with linen back and lining/shell; fine chainstitch embroidery with blue, green, and pink (predominant colors) silk thread in floral/leaf patterns down either side of front opening; small repeating leaf figure embroidered in blue and pink around lower front, collar front, and on pocket flaps; also small embroidered floral/leaf figure on each button; high neckline with stand collar; 2 stand pockets on lower front (one on each side), with flap tops; front closure with 12 self fabric covered buttons; long, with slightly flared bottom, and small side slits (on linen). Front with Indian (?) embroidery probably purchased readymade, and vest dated ca. 1790s-1800, according to previous curator. Width measurement below taken across bottom (buttoned).
