George Y. Wellington was the founder and second President of the Arlington Historical Society. He was born at the Dr. Timothy Wellington House (today's number 86 Pleasant Street), his many decades of public service began when, in his teens, he worked to bring the railroad to town. A successful insurance agent resided from 1874 onwards in the Gothic Revival " Potter Cottage" at 16 Maple Street. It is one of Arlington's most architecturally significant homes.
