The war is over now. Nick has been travelling to different hospitals to see the wounded, and he has seen first-hand the hardships and suffering. The French and English have suffered more than the Americans since they were taking the brunt of it for four years. Last night was the most wonderful night of Nick's life, there was a large celebration in Rouen. French, English, Scottish, Irish, Americans, Australians, New Zealanders, Italians, Belgians, and other allies took part in one of the most wonderful celebrations. All of the national anthems were played end everyone sang along. All the streets and buildings were illuminated for the first time in four years. Frenchmen would come up and kiss you on both cheeks. Thousands of people filled the streets singing and shouting, bands played, church bells rang, and steam boat whistles blew. Nick, the Major, and the Sergeant went on a 150 mile trip yesterday, as they passed through different towns and villages they saw crowds celebrating.
