Letter from William Appleman Williams to Harvey Wasserman
Description:
Noting how he is reluctant to reply to others' comments on his own work, while also noting the "terrible row" over his book " The Contours of American History." Sending additional comments related to helping Wasserman with his book, "America Born & Reborn," particularly a number of thoughts on the importance of Lincoln to the academic field and public debate of American history, and suggesting several books and historians with which to engage on the topic, many taught by Williams own mentor, William Best Hesseltine.
