A large bifold flier, each page 9" x 12", humorously advertising a "greate centennial tea party" on February 22, 1876. The language, spellings, and typeface spoof 18th-century styles, as do the participants' first names. (The last names appear to be of actual Newton residents in 1876.) Attendees are encouraged to wear period clothing ("On acct of ye hard Tymes, ye folks may wear their Grandfathers' and Grandmothers' Old Cloathes." It is unclear if such an event--supposed to be held at "Ye Orthodox Meeting House in Ye Village of Newton Centre, Mass."-- actually took place. A footnote indicates that the flier was printed by [George C.] Rand, 117 Franklin Street, Boston, "wheare he and his Men Folks who help him be always glad to do alle printing at reasonable rates."
