This photograph depicts some of the YMCA War Workers who provided assistance during the Spanish American War of 1898. Those pictured in this image include: [top row, L to R] Arthur Shoemaker (1899), George H. Hunter (1900), Solone Di Campello (1900), [2nd row] John F. Simons (1900), John Sherrill (1899), Mahlon G. Baily (Bailey) (1900), Thomas M. Brainard (1900), Fred Young (1900), [3rd row] Thomas J. Browne (1898), Charles A. Boardman (1899), Merrell W. Crawford (1900), William F. Mertens (1900), [bottom row] Sherwood B. Doolittle (1899), and Frederick J. Hutchins (1900). Presidents of the College, Henry S. Lee (1891 - 1893) [bow tie] and Lawrence L. Doggett (1896 -1936) are in the top row center of this picture. Those pictured in this photograph were either alumni of the YMCA Training School at Springfield, Mass. or would enroll in the college after this war.
