Portrait of Leslie E. "Les" Sponsel, a visiting professor of anthropology at the University during 1978-1979. He went on to become Professor of Anthropology and Director of the Ecological Anthropology Program at the University of Hawai'i in Honolulu. His works included a long-term research project focused on exploring the possible ecological interrelationships among sacred caves, Buddhist monks, bats, forests, biodiversity, and conservation.
