- Notes:
-
Springfield College’s first Glee Club was organized by Philip Loring Gillett, who graduated from the school in 1901. Under the direction of Arthur H. Turner, the organization “provided musical instruction of the highest type” and contributed “much to the life of the School, as good music always forms the centre of the best social life.” According to the March 1902 Association Seminar, it was important that secretaries were “qualified to lead the singing” and knew “the best methods of organizing clubs for musical work.”
Minor deterioration.
