Girl's bodice of blue and white plaid linen, with dropped shoulders and long, curved sleeves; high, rounded neckline, with piped edging in blue silk taffeta; also box-pleated, picot-edged cream colored lace ruffle around neck; same piping as neckline around top of each sleeve; ribbon of same taffeta applied in scalloped line under and around neckline, resembling a collar; flared shape overall, with curved, princess style seams; rounded lower edge and slightly longer at center front; scalloped around bottom, with binding/edging in same taffeta; same scalloping and edging at sleeve bottoms; back opening, with button closure - 3 (should be 7) large blue silk thread covered wooden ball buttons, with some decorative crochet (?) work and 6-pointed star or floral pattern on each; glazed white linen or cotton lining. Fabric identified as wool, with linen lining, and bodice dated ca. 1860s-70s by previous curator. Width measurement below taken at waist (as if fastened).
