Miser's purse, crocheted with beads. Purse consists of a long 12" tube, crocheted, wiht a slit in the center (for access) kept closed by two sliding silver-colored rings. One end of tube is gathered; the other is finished with a flat seam. Seam end has remnants of an elaborate beaded fringe. Purse is crocheted from two-ply brown cotton (or silk?) with two tiny, faceted, brass-colored beads incorporated into each stitch. Fringe is made with tiny faceted silver-colored beads, some oxidized to green, as well as larger round and oblong beads. Gathered end of puse has a silver-colored, bell-shaped pendant bead. Metal rings to close purse are slightly convex with decorative markings.
