The Wilfred A. French Photographic Collection consists of original glass plate negatives and prints. His foremost interest was historic houses, especially those of the 17th century. The geographic scope tends to be limited to buildings in cities and towns in eastern Massachusetts, including Boston, Danvers, Dedham, Medford, and Saugus. The emphasis is on the building as a whole, sometimes viewed in connection with the surrounding landscape or street scenes. Source: Guide to the Library and Archives, 7-8.
