Jacob Schlitt grew up in New York City and speaks about being raised by his mother, who both gave him a Yiddish education and an understanding of the importance of being aware of social injustices. He fondly remembers his childhood, from learning the Four Questions (Fir Kashes) in Yiddish to winning a watch in Hebrew school after collecting the highest amount of donations for the JNF. Schlitt also discusses his life's work in labor and civil rights. Towards the end of the interview, Schlitt discusses defining Jewish identity and provides advice to future generations.
