<mods:abstract>A picture postcard shows an exterior view of The Refectory, the restaurant in Franklin Park in Boston. Hartwell & Richardson, 60 Devonshire Street in Boston, designed the building which was completed in 1895. The building featured a pergola, a rooftop garden, and private dining rooms. The archietctural style is Renaissance Revival, as seen in the Palladian windows and second-story loggia. During its lifetime, the Refectory also served other functions, for example as a branch of the Boston Public Library and a school for children with tuberculosis. The city tore down the building in 1971.</mods:abstract>
