Bird's-eye perspective of the garden, The Hague, Hamilton, Mass., ca. 1915
Description:
This watercolor on paper bird's-eye perspective drawing shows the estate and garden of Alexander Cochrane, known as The Hague or The Farm, in Hamilton, Massachusetts. Arthur Shurcliff designed the garden. Cochrane was a chemical manufacturer and businessman. A wall surrounds the garden on two sides, and a picket fence encloses the garden on the side opposite the entrance to it from the house. A woman and child approach a fountain set into the garden wall.
