Album 15: Historic Buildings and Landmarks in New England
This album contains approximately fifty 4 x 5 inch "gaslight" prints from circa 1895-1900 taken by an amateur photographer. The images illustrate buildings, gravestones and monuments in Plymouth, Boston, Cambridge, Duxbury, Marshfield, and Stockbridge, Massachusetts; Newport, Rhode Island; Derby and New Haven, Connecticut; and New York City. Annotations are limited and include dates of structures and associational significance. The album is possibly the work of a young person, and the pictorial quality is below average. Sites documented include Pilgrim monuments, gravesites, and houses in Plymouth, Mass.; churches and memorials in Boston, Mass.; graves, monuments, and houses related to Myles Standish and John Alden in Duxbury, Mass.; the Longfellow House, churches, monuments, and "The Washington Elm" in Cambridge, Mass.; statues in Newport, Rhode Island; homes in Marshfield, Mass.; Benedict Arnold's house, Lighthouse Point, and monuments in New Haven, Conn.; and Grant's Tomb and the Aquarium at Battery Park in New York City.
