Violin and two bows. 1914.6.1A (Violin): One-piece back of maple. Ribs and neck of maple. Two-piece belly of pine or spruce with regular purfling. Roughly-carved scroll. Wedge-shaped fingerboard of hardwood stained black (very grooved from strings). Footed neck. Stored in black, non-archival violin case. 1914.6.1B (Bow): The wood of the bow is mottled, especially on one side, and the leather grip is worn. Most of the horse hair is gone, but some is still attached at one or both ends. 28" long, with the frog about 1.75" long. Right above the frog in small letters is stamped "GERMANY". On the underside of the bow, next to the frog, is carved "XXXI." 1914.6.1C (Bow): The wood of the bow is a solid, dark brown color. All of the hair is missing. The leather grip has worn away in the middle, and a combination of wire and plastic has been wrapped around the bow to replace it. Total length is 29.25", and the frog is 1.75" long. The mother of pearl on the underside of the frog has some scratches on it. The maker's mark MAESTRO is stamped above the center of the frog. 191
